Greensburg's Simpson earns 200th win Tuesday night

Has led the Lady Pirates to five sectionals over the past decade

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Greensburg girls head basketball coach had a milestone win on Tuesday night.

The top-ranked Lady Pirates beat New Palestine 70-33 to give coach Jason Simpson his 200th win on Senior Night

Over the past eleven years, Simpson has led the program to five sectionals, a regional, semi-state and one state runner-up.

The team is currently 20-0 and have their sights set on a deep run in the playoffs.

Simpson’s impact on the team goes beyond the court. Sophomore Claire Larrison moved to Greensburg from Waldron last year and credits the coach for making the transition easy.

“He’s been great since the moment I moved, he was incredibly welcoming and gave me a tour of the school, gave me the opportunity to practice with the team, and taught me a lot that got me ready to play at the varsity level,” Larrison told The 812.

The Lady Pirates will wrap up the regular season against Lawrenceburg on Thursday. The sectionals begin on February 4.
