Greensburg Schools earn district-wide national PLTW honor

One of only 82 school districts in the country

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Greensburg Community Schools is one of just 10 school corporations statewide to receive a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) designation for each of their schools.

The award is given to individual schools who show a commitment to STEM education that provides students with the skills to thrive in the real world.

With Greensburg Elementary, Greensburg Junior High and Greensburg High School each receiving the award, the corporation was given the Distinguished District honor.

PLTW awarded only 82 school corporations nationwide as a Distinguished District.

Greensburg Superintendent Tom Hunter said the award is a testament to the staff and students.

One of the staff members being spotlighted for her PLTW efforts is Greensburg Junior High engineering teacher Baylee Gabbard. She also recognized the students for their efforts.

“While not every student will become an engineer, showing them that there is more than just becoming a computer scientist, or constructing a building, there are other aspects that this teaches including problem solving, working well with others, and creative thinking, that can be applied to whatever they do in life,” Gabbard said.
