Greensburg senior double medals at state finals

See how other local athletes did below:

(INDIANAPOLIS.) – Greensburg senior Olivia Grimes was one of several Southeast Indiana Track & Field athletes to qualify for the IHSAA State Championship this weekend.

Grimes qualified for both the discus and shot put and earned a spot on the podium in both state events.

She finished 4th out of 27 in discus and 8th out of 27 in shot put earning a medal for both. In Track & Field, the top nine finishers in each category earn a medal.

“Indiana is one of only three states in which Track & Field is a one-class system. So, Olivia competed right beside girls from the biggest schools in Indiana and she showed up in a big way,” Greensburg Throws Coach David Jackson said.

On Friday, East Central's Trevor Perkins finished 9th in the 400M to earn a medal at state.

Other local boys athletes who had strong performances include Batesville’s Ayden Eckstein who finished 12th in High Jump and Milan’s Gabe Riehle who placed 18th in 400M.

East Central’s Will Kemper and Tyler Stenger, Batesville’s Jack Chapman and Lawrenceburg’s Ryan Hinthorne also had good showings at state.

On the girls side, Batesville’s Ella King placed 15th in Shot Put, Oldenburg’s Rachel Suttman finished 18th in discus and South Ripley’s Alexa Yeomans placed 17th in the 100M.
