Greensburg shelter earns "No-Kill" status

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter has become a “No Kill” shelter.

It was a process that began three years ago by former director Melinda Myers who passed away in December.

Our hearts are heavy that she is not here to celebrate with us, but we are carrying on her memory every day,” the shelter stated.

In order to earn the status, the Greensburg shelter has had to save at least 90 percent of pets in their care.

We have worked long hours, lost sleep, laughed, cried, bickered and everything in between during this journey. We are the team that we are because we never give up in the face of adversity,” the shelter said.

The Greensburg shelter credited Best Friends Animal Society as well as volunteers and community members who have adopted, fostered and rescued pets along the way.
