(MIAMI) – A Greensburg woman has just returned from the first-ever World Solitaire Championship in Miami, Florida.
Christy (Kramer) Bevington was chosen from more than 500,000 players who competed digitally all across the world.
After outplaying thousands of others, Bevington received an exclusive invitation to attend the tournament.
“At first I thought it was a hoax but it certainly wasn’t,” Bevington said.
She was one of 400 players that received an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the tournament that took place on South Beach.
“It was neat meeting all kinds of different people. I met a lady from Germany, a man from Scotland and some others from Montreal,” Bevington said.
How did Christy do in the tournament? She’s not allowed to tell us yet.
The tournament was filmed and is expected to appear on television in the near future. We will let you know how to watch it once it gets close to airing.
The players competed for $300,000 in prizes and a place in the first-of-its kind Solitaire Hall of Fame.
It was hosted by Papaya Gaming in an effort to reimagine solitaire from a solo past time to a large in-person competition.
