(NEW POINT, Ind.) – A long-running golf tournament has been renamed in honor of one of its founders.
The Southeastern Indiana Home Builders Association (SEIHBA) has hosted their annual golf outing every year since 1987.
It began at Indian Lakes and is now the longest running tournament at North Branch Golf Course.
Bill Amberger owned Batesville Building Materials for several years before finishing his career at Gillman Home Center.
He helped create the annual tournament and was very dedicated to the event as well as the home builders who participated.
Amberger passed away at the age of 79 in September 2024.
The tournament is being held on Friday and it began with a ceremony this morning. It has been renamed the Bill Amberger Memorial Tournament.
Bill's wife, Elaine, and his family were in attendance for the ceremony.
