House fire in Bright leads to significant firefighter response

(BRIGHT, Ind.) – A house fire in Bright led to a significant response from surrounding fire departments on Wednesday. 

It occurred around noon in the 21000 block of Jackson Ridge Road. 

The Bright Fire Department was first to respond and they saw flames and smoke coming from the home when they arrived. 

They called their mutual aid partners as well as surrounding agencies to assist with the firefighting operations. 

Altogether, there were at least 10 departments that fought the fire including:

• Greendale 

• Lawrenceburg 

• Sunman

• Miller-York

• St. Leon

• Whitewater Township

• Miami Township

• Aurora 

• Harrison

• Bright 

“You can’t put a price tag on the importance of our mutual aid partnerships, we train with these other departments and in the end, they are life savers that we can call on when needed,” Bright Fire Chief Kendall Eberhart said.

Due to so many departments being on the scene, Batesville Fire & Rescue even responded to Bright so they could be available if another emergency occurred in the area.

Nobody was hurt in the blaze and firefighters believe it may have been caused by an electrical failure.

Crews were on scene for about 4 hours and the home has been deemed a total loss.
