Impromptu student-led 'See You At The Pole' happens at Lawrenceburg

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – Nearly 50 Lawrenceburg students and staff members gathered in prayer early this morning.
It was an impromptu ‘See You At The Pole’ event that was organized by two students.
One of those organizers is sophomore Bryor Sams who is the student that attended ‘See You At The Pole’ by himself last week.
‘See You At The Pole’ is an event that took place on September 23 at schools across the country. It is entirely student-led and not affiliated with schools.
While it's a popular tradition at some schools, students at other schools may not participate due to not being aware of it.
Earlier this year, Sams transferred from Franklin County which has a very active ‘See You At the Pole’ initiative.
He was expecting the same when he arrived at Lawrenceburg High School last Wednesday but found out that he was the only student in attendance.
That was simply due to ‘See You At The Pole’ not yet being adopted by students.
Sams and fellow sophomore Vance Gabbard decided to organize their own ‘See You At The Pole’ this morning.
More than 45 students, 2 school resource officers and a few teachers showed up early this morning for the prayer event.
Sams shared a few Bible verses while the group said prayers for the entire school.
“I love having the opportunity to step out in faith and pray about everything that is going on in the world and over all my friends and peers,” Bryor said last week.
This isn’t the only student-led faith initiative that takes place at Lawrenceburg Schools.
A popular Bible study takes place each week at the high school and there is also an active Young Life chapter available in Lawrenceburg as well.

Former U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary and presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson came across Bryor's article from last week.
On Tuesday, he posted the article on his social media and had a message for Bryor:
"Bryor, you may have stood alone at that flagpole, but God was with you. Thank you for your courage and faith. Young people like you give me hope for America’s future," said Dr. Ben Carson.
