Indiana Republicans release first draft of redistricting map

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Republicans in the Indiana House of Representatives have released the first draft of a new congressional map.

It comes as legislators are weighing mid-decade redistricting in Indiana.

The draft will need state representative and senate approval to be put into effect. State Senator Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) is among those who have voiced opposition prior to the map being released today.

Southeast Indiana would be impacted by the new map. Currently, the majority of our area is in District 9 which is currently held by U.S. Congresswoman Erin Houchin.

The new map appears that District 9 would shift toward central Indiana while our area would be encompassed by District 7 and District 6.
