(WESTPORT, Ind.) – A local family is continuing the search for a headstone that was stolen from a cemetery near Westport.
A granite bench for Jack Neukam disappeared from the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery sometime around December 28.
The cemetery is located at 3945 West County Road 1000 North in Jennings County.
Jack passed away in December of 2022 and the bench depicts his name, his wife Paula's name, their birth dates, his death date and their wedding date.
Paula and the family are desperately hoping to have the headstone returned undamaged.
They are currently offering a $1,000 reward to have it returned or to get information on who might have taken it.
Nothing else at the cemetery was damaged or stolen the night it disappeared.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department at (812) 346-8642.
