(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – A Jennings County woman was arrested after she allegedly caused a disturbance at a gas station.
North Vernon Police say 28-year-old Sydney Bingham nearly struck a semi and several gas pumps while she attempted to park at the Sunoco Gas Station on State Street.
“Upon approach, officers observed Bingham displaying signs of extreme impairment, including erratic movements, rapid and disjointed speech, and difficulty maintaining balance,” said Graham Heffelfinger with the North Vernon Police Department.
Officers believed her behavior was consistent with drug use, specifically methamphetamine.
“Bingham initially refused to identify herself, declined all field sobriety evaluations, and later refused a chemical test at the hospital,” Heffelfinger added.
Police also allege that her vehicle had a license plate that did not match the car.
Bingham was taken to the Jennings County Jail and charged with Operating While Intoxicated (Controlled Substance), Public Intoxication, False Informing, Obstruction of Justice, and Refusal to Identify Self.
