Jennings County High School mourns loss of student

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – Jennings County Schools are mourning the loss of a student. 

Landyn Porter was a junior and a member of the football team, the weights program, and building and trades.

Jennings County High School will offer counselors and clergy for any students or staff on Wednesday, June 17. 

It will be in the Commons area from 5-7:30 p.m. and students should enter Door I. 

“School counselors and local clergy members will be available to offer support, guidance, and a compassionate listening ear to anyone who may need assistance,” the school stated. 

“As we mourn this heartbreaking loss, we ask our entire community to keep Landyn’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness, support, and compassion will be deeply appreciated in the days and weeks ahead,” they said.

The school announced his passing but did not provide any details.
