Laurel car show raises nearly $7K for flood victims

Watch here:

(LAUREL, Ind.) – More than a hundred vehicles participated in the Laurel Labor Day Relief Car Show on Sunday.

It was organized by Brandon Stock and all of the proceeds went to those affected by the recent flooding.

We spoke with one attendee who described Stock as going above-and-beyond to make the event a tremendous success.

“Brandon was the brains behind this entire event and he even made trophies by hand that turned out great. He truly put his whole heart into this and truly made this something special,” said car show participant Carson Back.

Funds were raised through vehicle registrations, raffles, food, a cornhole tournament and donations.

Altogether, the car show featured 102 vehicles and resulted in $6,900 being raised and donated to those impacted by the floods.

Carson Back owns Enneking Painting and he teamed up with Blanco’s Catering in Batesville to sell meals as part of the fundraiser.

Those two businesses also had a similar initiative two weeks ago in Laurel while the cleanup efforts were still ongoing.

“I just see that there is a need for help and I have the ability play a part in filling that need. It's been great to see so many people come together for a great cause on such short notice,” Back said.

Some other businesses that were involved Sunday included Brookville IGA, Long Branch Tavern, Turtle’s Restaurant, HillTop Bar + Grill, Brookville Boat and Auto Body, and many more.
