(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – Lawrenceburg senior Isaiah Williams has taken his play to another level over the past month.
Since October 3, the running back has exploded for 17 touchdowns over the past six games.
That includes a 6-touchdown performance against Franklin County when the Tigers cruised to a 48-27 sectional semifinal win on Halloween night.
Williams is also a critical part of the defense as he is the starting free safety and leads the Tigers with five interceptions this season.
However, individual stats mean nothing to Williams right now. There is only one thing he is focused on: Cascade.
Despite winning their last 10 games, Lawrenceburg is coming into Friday’s contest as underdogs against the undefeated Cascade Cadets.
Williams says the Tigers are not intimidated and ready to leave it all out on the field.
“We have been working incredibly hard this week, and we will be ready to come out and play. We will be more physical than them and we will dominate. We are not intimidated,” Williams told The 812.
He credits his teammates and coaches for creating an environment where the Tigers push each other to be their best and also look out for one another.
“This whole team works hard and that is exactly why we are in this position. We have to play to the level of our standards and not to the level of the situation,” he said.
Williams will treat every play like it’s his last, but believes this season is far from over.
He and his teammates are hoping Dick Meador Stadium will be packed with Tigers fans for the win-or-go-home game on Friday night.
“The fans here have always been amazing and it is an honor to put on this jersey. I know they will be out here bigger than ever on Friday night,” he said.
The winner will earn a trip to Semi-State and Williams believes this is the Tigers time.
"The way we are playing now, we can make a serious run and we are ready to," Williams said.
While Williams is focused on the immediate future, he is unsure of his long-term goals. He is hoping to receive some offers to play college football next year.
