(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Lawrenceburg soccer player showed what sportsmanship truly means during a game against Batesville on Thursday night.
The Tigers were working the ball around the field and senior Mason Terrill was in the game.
All of a sudden, Mason was no longer paying attention to the ball while the game was still in progress.
What was Mason doing?
He had noticed a Bulldog player on the ground and suffering from what appeared to be a cramp.
Mason ran over to the player, helped him stretch and stayed by his side until the player got back on his feet.
“That picture that was taken wasn’t in stoppage time or dead ball time, that was during the play,” a spectator told The 812.
Mason’s actions last night didn't come as a surprise to those who know him best.
“He's so selfless when it comes to helping others and those in need. Mason will change his plans or go out of his way if someone needs help,” said his mother, Jesse.
She added, "The best part, he never needs recognition or asks for anything in return.”
Mason and the Tigers would go on to win the tight contest by beating the Bulldogs 1-0.
