(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A local fifth grader is using her own difficult experiences in an effort to help others.
11-year-old Lucy Glauber goes to South Decatur and has big dreams for the future.
“When I’m older I want to be a singer, so I figured I should start on that now,” she told The 812.
She began writing her own music about two years ago and attends singing lessons with Jamee Scheid in St. Paul.
Lucy has just released a new song and there is a deep meaning behind it.
She admits that she's been made fun of at school before, and remembers how hurtful that can be.
“I wish people didn’t have to be mean and judge others, I wish we could all appreciate each other,” Lucy said.
The feelings she's felt inspired her to write “I Was Made To Be Me” and it has a message that can resonate with any student who has dealt with bullying or a difficult time.
“My goal is that this will remind others to be nice, but to also appreciate the person that you are and that you don’t have to change or anything,” she said.
Here is brief snippet and the full song is below.
Lucy wrote the 4-minute song all on her own and Scheid composed it and also loaded it onto Spotify.
Her mom, Trisha, admits that she gets emotional every time she listens to this song.
“I am just so proud of her and she has such an amazing heart. I know a lot of kids, and even adults, struggle with situations from other people in their life, and often compare themselves to others, and I hope Lucy’s willingness to share her story can reach someone else to know their not alone,” Trisha said.
