Easy way to help fill shelves at local food pantries

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – You can help local families in need by simply leaving a donation at your mailbox on May 10.
A mail carrier will pick up the donation and it will be taken to a local food pantry.
It is part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC) annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive which has taken place every year since 1993.
The event has grown to become the nation’s largest one-day food drive.
“Simply leave your donation of non-perishable food in a bag near your mailbox on the second Saturday in May, and your letter carrier will do the rest,” organizers said.
Chris Whitham is with the NALC branch that covers post offices in Brookville, Batesville, Osgood, Vevay, Madison, Rising Sun and Lawrenceburg/Aurora.
“We will be delivering food drive cards to local addresses soon. All food collected goes to local food banks,” Whitham said.
