(INDIANAPOLIS) – Two Dearborn County natives made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
18-year-old Lary D. Fogle was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and was killed in Vietnam on December 20, 1965.
19-year-old Thomas Denning was a Marine serving in Quang Tri when he was killed on March 2, 1967.
State Representative Garrett Bascom introduced a measure on Monday to rename the bridges on U.S. 50 over Tanners Creek in honor of Fogle and Denning.
The measure was introduced in the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation and Rep. Bascom was joined by Vietnam veteran PG Gentrup.
If approved by the committee, Rep. Bascom will author an official resolution in January which State Senator Randy Maxwell is expected to sponsor in the Senate.
The renaming of the bridges require both Indiana House and Senate passage.
