(METAMORA, Ind.) – The Metamora community is mourning the loss of 67-year-old Connie Ragle.

She is best known as the owner of Grannie’s Cookie Jar & Ice Cream Parlor which opened in 1988.

The business opened after Ragle’s father had a car accident and the family had to come up with a creative way to make money.

Grannie’s Cookie Jars now holds the Guinness World Record for the most cookie jars with more than 3,200 different ones inside the store.

Ragle was also heavily involved in programs such as Historic Metamora, the Lions Club, Merchants of Metamora, I Love Metamora and Haunted Village of Metamora.

She was also instrumental during the August flood as she volunteered countless hours to assist the most vulnerable in the community.

In 2025, Connie was honored with the Franklin County Impact Award, recognizing her extraordinary service and contributions to Franklin County, Indiana.

“She was someone who gave freely of her time, energy, and talents, never seeking recognition or expecting anything in return. Helping others was simply who she was, and the difference she made throughout Franklin County will continue to be felt for years to come,” her family said.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Metamora Opry Barn from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 14.

Ragle was interviewed by The 812 in 2025. You can listen to the podcast here:
