(MILAN, Ind.) – Batesville and Milan’s football team are participating in Turnover Hunger this season.
Every time the Indians or Bulldogs force a turnover, a donation will be made to the Weekend Backsack Program in Ripley County.
This program provides elementary school students in Ripley County facing food insecurity with a backpack of kid friendly, non-perishable food for the weekend. In Ripley County.
The program is run in partnership with local schools, relies on volunteers and charitable donations, and aims to reduce hunger-related absences and behavioral issues, ultimately helping children focus on learning.
The Milan Indians have been involved in the annual program for the past five years.
“We’re proud to know our efforts make a meaningful difference. Together through the Turnover Hunger Program, we’re helping ensure no child in Ripley County has to worry about their next meal, allowing them to focus on learning and growing,” said Milan head coach Ryan Langferman.
There are approximately 1,010 children in Ripley County that do not know where their next meal will come from.
You can contribute to the campaign by visiting www.rccfonline.org where all donations make a difference, just $20 will feed a child all weekend.
