(MILLHOUSEN, Ind.) – A Millhousen church will hold its first festival in 57 years this weekend!
The last time Immaculate Conception held a church festival was in 1968. It was cancelled after the church was in disrepair and condemned.
Although repairs were made to the church, the festival never returned until this year.
Joe and Donna Johannigman own Stone’s Restaurant and came up with the idea of bringing the festival back to life.
“We wanted to bring a little light back into the community. When we brought this up to the parish council, there was a lot of support to bring it back,” Joe said.
The festival will take place beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 27.
It will feature mock turtle soup, kids games, bouncy houses, a beer garden, raffles, pull tabs and music.
Joe said there will be at least one family in attendance who also came to the festival in the 1960’s.
Organizers say the goal of the festival is to bring people together and have community fellowship.
