Missing Shelbyville man confirmed deceased

(SHELBYVILLE, Ind.) – A Shelby County man missing since early March has been been found deceased. 

61-year-old Lyle Stanton was last seen on March 3 and the Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert. 

Police and community members had conducted searches in the Shelbyville area for Stanton. 

A man’s body was found in the Big Blue River in the area of West Washington Avenue on Sunday. 

An autopsy was performed and the coroner’s office confirmed Thursday that the body found in the river was Stanton.
