(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – More than 80 people kicked off the new year with a hike at Versailles State Park on Thursday.
“The weather was brisk and refreshing, and new friendships were made along the trail. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this hike so special,” Friends of Versailles State Park said.
This was part of a statewide initiative called ‘First Day Hikes’ where free hikes were offered at Indiana State Parks on January 1. They also took place at Brookville Lake, Brown County, Clifty Falls and Versailles.
Organizers say it serves as a healthy way to kick off the Semiquincentennial year.
Friends of Versailles State Park added that they will offer First Saturday Hikes this year as well. You can follow the organization here.
