(VERNON, Ind.) – A Jennings County deputy and his drug-sniffing dog have made an immediate impact.
Monday marked Deputy Tyler Campbell and K9 Hurley’s first day on the job together.
They were called to a traffic stop on Ripley Street in Vernon due to suspicious activity by the driver.
Deputies say K9 Hurley indicated that drugs were in the car and a search allegedly resulted in 52 grams of methamphetamine being found.
46-year-old Billey McRoberts, of North Vernon, was arrested on charges including Dealing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine and a theft warrant.
"Monday was Deputy Campbell and K-9 Hurley's first day working together as a team after graduating K-9 School last week, so for them to make an immediate impact on our community is a testament to their training and dedication. We look forward to seeing this team work together for a very long time,” said Jennings County Lt. Thomas Mellenkamp.
