(INDIANAPOLIS) – A bill co-authored by State Senator Randy Maxwell (R-Guilford has been signed into law.
The measure stops foreign adversaries like Iran, China and Russia from buying any land in Indiana.
Senate Enrolled Act 256 also:
Requires agents and political organizations from hostile nations to register with the Attorney General;
Removes foreign agents from critical higher education programs;
Blocks state funding for any affiliates of foreign terror organizations; and
Prohibits state or local governments from entering into sensitive technology contracts with businesses controlled by foreign adversaries.
"Our nation's adversaries work every day to upend the American way of life, and we can't sit idly by and let that happen," Maxwell said. "This law is a big step forward for our state and will help ensure we are safe and secure from enemies who look to harm us."
Governor Mike Braun signed the measure into law on Thursday.
