New nonprofit to help cancer patients and families

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A new nonprofit has been created to support those battling cancer in Decatur, Ripley and Franklin counties.

The Greatest Need Foundation will provide financial assistance, emotional support, and practical resources to a patient and their family.

It could range from helping with medical travel or household needs, to assisting with comfort items and other essentials.

Founder Kari Ann Rennekamp says the nonprofit was established to ensure that nobody is walking a cancer journey by themselves.

“We created The Greatest Need Foundation because we saw firsthand how deeply cancer impacts every part of a family’s life,” Rennekamp said.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the Batesville Memorial Public Library Green Space at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30.

The public is welcome to the ceremony which will include remarks from the nonprofit’s leadership, recognition of community memes and a moment of prayer.

“Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the foundation’s programs, volunteer opportunities, and ways to support the mission,” Rennekamp added.
