(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – A new nonprofit is dedicated to protecting animals in Ripley County.
Ripley County Animal Rescuers & Educators (Ripley C.A.R.E.) was established to protect animals and provide community education.
“We’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far including successful partnerships with the Ripley County Humane Society & Ripley County Health Department to expand low‑cost vaccines/rabies clinics, rabies control projects and low cost spay/neuter clinic access,” the organization stated.
Their long-term goal is to provide a low cost spay/neuter & rabies clinic for Ripley County.
They are also calling on county officials to establish an animal control officer position and also create a county-owned pet shelter.
Ripley C.A.R.E. believes there are animals within the county that are suffering from neglect or abandonment.
“Officials have been told “there’s no problem” but our documented calls, cases, community reports, and on‑the‑ground experience tell a different story,” the organization said.
If you do see or suspect animal abuse, you are encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
The nonprofit is also accepting donations which can be made by visiting Napoleon State Bank and asking for the “Ripley CARE” account.
