(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for upgrades made at the Decatur County Youth Sports Complex on Friday.
The project included the installation of turf on the four main ball diamonds at the complex.
Rob DeHoff serves as the Decatur County Parks & Recreation Sports Coordinator and said the upgrades will make a positive difference.
“My primary objective is to create a premier facility for the youth of Decatur County while also generating significant economic impact,” DeHoff said.
The turf fields are already contributing to tourism as USSSA Baseball and Softball has committed to 18 tournaments in Greensburg this summer.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was an opportunity for DeHoff to thank those who have made the project a reality.
"The upgraded diamonds will not only have an economic impact but it will also benefit the kids of our community. I cannot wait until to see the kids' faces playing recreational league games this summer,” DeHoff said.
Another celebration will take place on the league’s Opening Day around 4:30 p.m. on May 5.
DeHoff added that additional upgrades will be made to improve facility accessibility and concessions.
Funding for the turf upgrades was secured through a $550,000 allocation of ARPA funds to the Parks Department.
The Decatur County Youth Sports Complex is located at 245 S. County Road 200 West in Greensburg.
