(PATRIOT, Ind.) – The National Weather Service has confirmed a weak tornado did occur in Switzerland County on Sunday night.
Officials say it happened approximately three miles west of Patriot and was confirmed by videos they received as well as local reports.
NWS officials have not given any indication yet of maximum wind speeds as it is currently classified as an EFU, or Enhanced Fujita Unidentified.
“The tornado was contained within heavily forested areas, limiting access to ground surveys. While the tornado is being confirmed with unknown strength, the location has been approximated based on radar and geolocation techniques," the National Weather Service said.
Several Switzerland County residents captured unique cloud formations while the storms were moving through last night.
