OA coach named IBCA Assistant Coach of the Year

One girls coach in the state to receive award

(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Oldenburg Academy’s Brian Samples has been named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA). 

Samples is the assistant coach for the OA girls basketball team and helped lead the Twisters to a sectional title this year. 

OA head coach David Disbro said, “He is an outstanding shooting coach. I've never seen anyone in 34 years of coaching who can help a player with technique, confidence and their mind as well as he does when it comes to shooting”

Disbro and Samples have led Oldenburg to a 40-10 record in the past two seasons.

Samples was selected as the only girl's assistant coach in Indiana to receive the award.
