(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Oldenburg Academy dedicated Tuesday’s basketball game to the generations of girls who have played high school sports.

The school celebrated 50 years of Title IX as well as women’s high school athletics in Indiana.

The team wore light blue “ICA” jerseys to pay homage to the school’s original name of Immaculate Conception Academy.

Senior Addisyn Lambert said, “Before Title IX women were really limited in sports and what they were allowed to do, and once Title IX became a thing women had more advantages.

Gaby Cullen added that Title IX led to a 400 percent increase in women participating in athletics.

The PA announcer also read off achievements of past Oldenburg Academy teams during the game, while alumni were honored at halftime.
