(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Students from two area schools have contributed to a Jack-O-Lantern event in Franklin County.

57-year-old Roger Jansing passed away in 2020 and the ‘Jack-O-Lantern Drive By’ is held in his memory every year on Pine Road near Horseshoe Bend Road.

His sister, Sandy Collins, keeps the initiative going and has teamed up with Oldenburg Academy as well as the St. Peters Faith Formation program to get students involved.

The elementary kids at St. Peters carved pumpkins and so did Oldenburg’s senior class.

“It’s now not just for Roger but also for my Dad, Clarence, who passed away over a year ago. The students were asked to carve a Jack-A-Lantern in memory of their loved ones too,” Sandy said.

The carved pumpkins are lined along the road at 15080 Pine Road and are on display every night through Halloween.

If you do drive out there, be sure to check out the huge Halloween display that is nearby on Rosfeld Road!
