(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Oldenburg Academy students have reached their fundraising goal for a beautification project in the town.
The project includes enhancements around the Maypole area such as the basketball court being resurfaced to become multi-use for pickleball.
The students also plan to install a fire pit, permanent outdoor seating and landscaping.
It was a large goal that is part of a matching grant through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA).
The project required at least $25,000 from the community by March 28.
As of Wednesday morning, the students have exceeded that by raising $25,180, which means the funds will be matched to bring it to above $50,000.
The project received quite a bit of support as multiple Oldenburg businesses and community members donated.
Donations are still being accepted and you can get more information here.
OA's project is in conjunction with another effort to build a new pavilion, renovate the iron walkway bridge and install of an oval walking trail
