OA teacher recognized by IU for unique use of technology in the classroom

Walke one of only five teachers selected by alma mater

(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – An Oldenburg Academy teacher is being recognized by his alma mater for the innovative ways he brings brings technology into the classroom.

Jason Walke is one of five Indiana University School of Education alumni selected for the 2025 Jacobs Educator Cohort.

“Specifically, Walke was selected based on his use of virtual reality for immersive historical experiences, video conferencing to connect guest speakers and his students, and instructional time lecturing on the ethical use of artificial intelligence,” the school said.

As part of the cohort, Walke will collaborate with other educators and IU faculty throughout the next year where they will share strategies, develop best practices, and expand their use of educational technology.

"Having access to our world's evolving technology has allowed me to create engaging lesson plans that connect with students and to be a more efficient and effective educator. I am excited to hear about my cohort's creative applications and to learn about new developments,” Walke said.

The Jacobs Educator Award Program is funded through a gift from Don and Pat Jacobs and aims to bridge the gap between research and practice by bringing together teachers and IU faculty.
