(GUILFORD, Ind.) – A Tri-State photographer has a passion for capturing historic and abandoned places.
Rob Stone was recently came across the little church on top of the hill above State Road 1 in Guilford.
He took photos of the church and it later led to him getting in contact with someone who had a direct connection to the site.
Carol Allen said her late husband, Ron, had built the church in 2015 while he lived in an old farmhouse at the bottom of the hill.
Ron built the church from wood that had previously been on the farmhouse. Family and friends then loaded it on the trailer and pulled it to the top of the hill where it still stands.
“The bell tower being fabricated to size was really a nice touch. Ron had originally wanted to build an entire small town up there and started with the church,” Stone said.

The church is on private property and the current owner gave Rob exclusive access to view. It is not open to the public.
