(NAPOLEON, Ind.) – The National Weather Service will investigate a possible tornado that touched down in Ripley County on Sunday night.
The unconfirmed touchdown occurred around 8 p.m. in the area of Michigan Road and County Road 800 North near Napoleon.
There appears to be no injuries, however several homes and buildings were damaged, along with some power outages and debris in roadways.
The majority of the damage occurred along State Road 48 between Napoleon and Sunman, the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office said.
“Nearly every fire department in the county, Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, and Sunman Police Department are still out at this time assessing damage and clearing the roadways,” Ripley County Chief Deputy Lee Davidson said on Sunday night.

Forecasters are already letting people know about the possibility for strong to severe storms on Wednesday.
Following that, scattered showers will continue through Sunday which could bring some flooding.
