Ripley Co. prosecutor to be featured on high-profile case documentary

(VERSAILES, Ind.) – Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel will be featured on a documentary about a high-profile case in Southern Indiana on Monday night. 


Hertel served as the special prosecutor during the 2024 trial of former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel. 


Noel pleaded guilty to 27 felonies including theft, tax evasion and money laundering. The charges were connected to Noel misusing millions of taxpayer dollars. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison. 


The one-hour documentary called “Tarnished The Badge” will chronicle the rise and fall of the former county sheriff. 


It will air on Louisville ABC affiliate WHAS 11 at 8 p.m. Monday. It will then be available on-demand on the channel’s app.


Hertel will be featured in the documentary along with other key figures connected to Noel and the case. 


Noel is currently in prison at the New Castle Correctional Facility with an expected release date of 2033.
