Rising Sun grad completes Ironman competition

(HAWAII) – A Rising Sun native just completed the intense IronMan competition in Kona, Hawaii.

Peyton Merica completed a 112-mile bike ride, 26-mile marathon and a 2-and-a-half mile swim as part of the competition.

Merica was 5th overall in his age group and finished 125th out of 1,671 male competitors. 

He finished with a time of 9 hours, 11 minutes and 56 seconds.

“Peyton, your dedication, discipline, perseverance, and determination are an inspiration to our students and our entire community,” said Rising Sun Superintendent Branden Roeder.
