(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – An substance abuse prevention seminar at Lawrenceburg High School made an immediate difference on Tuesday.
Steered Straight is a motivational program hosted by Michael DeLeon that travels across the country to educate youth on the dangers of drugs, alcohol, vaping and bullying.
Six high schoolers turned in their vapes during the program today, according to organizers.
The event was organized by Dearborn County Community Advocating for Substance Abuse Awareness (CASA).
Steered Straight has also taken place at South Dearborn, East Central and Rising Sun high schools this week.
Dearborn County CASA will host the annual Youth Summit on Wednesday where more than 600 eighth graders will hear from DeLeon.
“They will experience a day full of fun, education, and will leave empowered to make great decisions when it comes to avoiding alcohol use - the number 1 substance currently abused by 9th graders in our county,” stated Dearborn County CASA.
