South Decatur basketball coach abruptly resigns

Is stepping down from coaching and teaching duties

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – South Decatur boys basketball coach Josh Terwilleger resigned from the school on Wednesday.

The school confirmed that he stepped down immediately from both his roles of coach and teacher. There has been no specific reason given.

Terwilleger was in his first year as head coach and the team currently has a record of 4-10.

A few weeks ago The 812 spoke with Cougars player Drake Scaggs who had high praise for the first-year coach.

“He’s honestly one of the best coaches I’ve ever had. I’ve been around him quite a bit since he came here, and I have never heard him say anything negative, or say something bad about anyone,” Scaggs said in early January.

Assistant coach Dustin Traylor has been named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

The school said they are actively searching for a permanent replacement and will provide updates on the hiring process in the coming weeks.
