(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – South Decatur Elementary is recognizing two third graders while honoring a former student.
5-year-old Rylie Bennett passed away after a two year battle with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) in 2023.
Rylie is remembered by those who knew her for her contagious smile, positivity and laughter.
The elementary school has the Bright as Bubbles Award that is in memory of Bennett.

Third graders Brinlynn Smith and Elijah Lynch were the recipients of the award this week.
“Like bubbles these two students shine with curiosity, kindness, and an infectious enthusiasm for learning,” the school said.
“In celebrating their light, we honor the memory of a student who taught us that joy is one of the greatest gifts we can share with one another,” they added.
