South Decatur to offer student, staff support on Monday

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The South Decatur community is mourning the loss of beloved elementary assistant principal Jake Rader.

He passed away unexpectedly when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle in Versailles on Friday night.

Despite school being out of session, South Decatur Elementary will be opening their doors from 4-6 p.m. on Monday night. Attendees are asked to enter through Door 7.

The school will be open to all students and families as we remember and honor Mr. Rader. Counseling support will be available on-site for anyone who may need it,” the school stated.

There will also be a space where students can write notes, share memories, or create drawings to be given to Mr. Rader’s family.

“Please know that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. We encourage students, staff, and families to seek support as needed and to take care of one another during this difficult time,” the school stated.
