St. Mary's eighth graders remember classmate with fundraiser

(GREENSBURG, Ind.)  — Some local eighth graders are honoring a classmate who passed away in first grade.

6-year-old Travis Wenning fought a hard battle against cancer but went to Heaven on September 12, 2018. 

Travis was top of mind for his classmates when they got involved in the St. Baldwick’s Foundation fundraiser. 

“Their service project was to collect money for the St Baldrick’s Foundation in an event they called Go Gold for Travis,” the school said. 

St. Baldwick’s is a national nonprofit that helps to raise funds to find cures for children with cancer. 

The St. Mary’s students raised a total of $6,500 which will all be donated to St. Baldwick’s Foundation.
