(VEVAY, Ind.) – Switzerland County officials are urging the public to only travel if essential.
They increased their Travel Advisory to a “Watch” on Wednesday afternoon due to re-freezing and ice buildup.
“Due to some minor thawing and now, quick freezing, most of all the secondary County roads and some of the major county roads are re-freezing over with the glaze of ice,” Switzerland County EMA said.
The “Watch” is the orange-level status and it means only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended.
Switzerland County is currently the only local county with this advisory issued.
Ohio County is under an “Advisory” which is the lowest level of local travel advisory, meaning that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid these areas.
