(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A teenage boy who collapsed on a Lawrenceburg baseball field last month is improving.
The boy collapsed while running the bases at the CAP Fields near Lawrenceburg Speedway on October 23.
On Monday, the Lawrenceburg Police Department announced that the boy was stabilized after being flown to a Cincinnati hospital and is reportedly doing much better.
"We wanted to give the family involved a little bit of peace, so we delayed making a release," the department states.
The police department is also commending Sgt. Gregory Cannon for the actions he took.
Cannon was off-duty and coaching his son’s team when the player collapsed.
“Without hesitation Sgt. Cannon immediately began assessing his condition and rendering life saving aid including CPR. He continued care while also giving instructions on how to get more help rolling,” the police department stated.
The Lawrenceburg Fire Department responded and provided an AED and additional care until the medical helicopter arrived.
