(AURORA, Ind.) – One of Indiana’s longest running street festivals returns Wednesday in Aurora!
The Aurora Farmers Fair began as an agricultural show in 1909.
In 1959, the Aurora Lions Club assumed sponsorship and the group continues to organize the fair every year.
The 116th Aurora Farmers Fair will take place beginning Wednesday, October 1 and it will run through Saturday.
The theme this year is ‘Women Serving The Community’ and the parade will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The grand marshals for the parade will be Lions Club members Shelly Handorf, Lyndsay Hays, Julianna Land, Brenda Lusby, Beth McDonald, Jonee Messer and Kelly Yenzer.
It will run about two hours and in addition to a number of floats and decorated entries, the parade will showcase marching bands from throughout the area.
There will also be rides, entertainment and live music each evening, including multiple area show choirs on Wednesday night.
Kristine Kabbes & The Skalleywags and The Grascals will both perform on Saturday evening.
Ride admissions will be done primarily through the purchasing of wristbands only this year. You can make an advance purchase online for $20 per person.
