The legacy of Carson Hughes continues on his 20th birthday

Watch here:

(OSGOOD, Ind.) – The family of Carson Hughes is keeping his legacy alive nearly two years after his passing.

Carson was a Jac-Cen-Del senior with an incredible talent for wildlife and nature photography.

He passed away while doing what he loved in March of 2024.

Today would have been Carson’s 20th birthday.

His parents, Jason and Mandy, have devoted themselves to not only keeping Carson’s memory alive, but to help others through their journey.

They established the Carson Hughes Memorial Foundation which provides scholarships to Ripley County high school seniors, help kids interested in photography to follow their dreams, and also support local conservation efforts.

His parents also started ‘Carson Hughes Bucket List Adventures’ where they give a local family a free trip to a national park every summer.

Here are some of those photo from the inaugural Carson Bucket List trip in 2025:

Carson’s parents also speak to local photographers and schools while sharing tips to those who want to follow in his footsteps.

They recently launched ‘Grief Hikes’ where those who are mourning a loss can join them for a hike at Versailles State Park. The next hike is this weekend and you can get more details here.
