(MILAN, Ind.) – Three Milan students showed patriotism when they thought nobody was watching last week.
Remi Woolums, Owyn Potts and Sawyer Strassell are third graders in Mrs. Kris Clark’s class.
The boys completed a morning assignment earlier than their classmates, so Clark allowed them to go outside and water the class garden.
Mrs. Clark left the door propped open while the boys watered the pumpkin patch and butterfly garden.
They were outside when the morning announcements came across the school speaker. The boys could hear it because the door was propped open.
That’s when the Pledge of Allegiance came across the loud speaker.
Mrs. Clark peaked outside to check on the three students and couldn’t believe what she saw!
Each boy had stopped watering the garden to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
After taking the photo, Clark wanted to make sure the boys were recognized for doing the right thing.
“I sent the photo to office staff because I thought it was so cute. Then I called all three boys’ parents to tell them about it,” Clark said.
Remi, Owyn and Sawyer were then recognized for their character by Milan’s Dean of Students Trina Schutte.
Here is a photo of the boys being recognized:
