Updated: Jan 23

Expected to provide power to 110 homes

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Two Decatur County REMC linemen will help bring electricity to a developing area of Guatemala.

Collin Crabtree and Paul Trenkamp will join 15 other Indiana electric cooperative line workers on the trip.

The crew will spend January 29 through February 15 extending electric infrastructure in the village of Palmira, a mountainous area along the western edge of Guatemala. The trip will bring electric to nearly 110 homes

“I'm most excited to help others receive a life changing option of having electricity to better their life and allow them the comforts we can easily take for granted,” Trenkamp said.

The initiative is called “Project Indiana: Empowering Global Communities for a Better Tomorrow” and is the sixth trip of its kind.

Since 2012, Indiana line workers have helped bring electric to nearly 1,000 homes and several churches and schools in Guatemala.
