Two Greensburg teachers recognized at Indianapolis Indians game

One teacher won the Elementary division

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Two Greensburg Community Schools educators were recognized during the Indianapolis Indians game on Saturday.

Greensburg Elementary Intermediate STEM Teacher Krista Harmon and Greensburg Community High School Chemistry Teacher Troy Davis were two of nine educators statewide that were selected by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP).

During the game, Harmon was selected as the Elementary Division Teacher of the Year.

“It just shows that all the hard work you put into it, and all the things we’re trying to accomplish, it shows that we are making progress and moving in the right direction,” Harmon said.

Harmon has taught at Greensburg Elementary for 22 years and has held various positions including Title Teacher, First Grade Teacher, Second Grade Teacher, Fourth Grade High Ability Teacher, and Intermediate STEM Teacher for the past five years.

She added that she was honored that so many staff members traveled to Victory Field to be part of the celebration.

Harmon and Davis each received a custom jersey, prize pack from Teachers Treasures, including school supplies and a shopping voucher valued at up to $500.

For being announced as winner, Harmon also received a premium prize package from the Indians, along with a $300 award from IASP.
